Farrel Mcwhirter Farm Park
My favorite place to go to get into nature but not too far out of the city is Farrel Mcwhirter Farm Park. The beautiful preservation of the forest along with the farm and it’s buildings tied in with a new modern day bathroom gives my heart another reason to beat. I crave that alone time in the forest, the quiet time, the time to listen to nature instead of my own thoughts. I love the woods.
My favorite thing about this woods (something we don’t see alot back in the midwest) is the regrowth from older, larger, stumps. The idea that youth can grow strong upon a solid base really hits me right smack dap in the motherhood.
Not sure where your motherhood is? It’s located right there between the ground and the new growth. It’s the most important life line there is out there, it’s strong, it’s courageous, it’s pure joy, sometimes it’s no fun, sometimes it is fun…..but it’s always worth it.
The tree below is called GrandMother Maple. She is HUGE, this picture does not do her any justice. It’s the largest maple tree I’ve ever seen and I love watching her green come on. I think it’s her color, do you agree?
Here is a video of the walk at Farrel Mcwhirter Farm Park: Enjoy!
